PCMAN – Microsoft CEO SatyaNadella delivered a keynote that highlighted the need for a new approach to security on November 17 in Washington, D.C. Nadella mentioned how Microsoft unique insights will help increase the security ecosystem, protect customers, and deliver a holistic, agile, security platform for today’s enterprise.
As our world is becoming more into mobile-first and cloud-first world, there is a growing risk of cyber security threats exposure towards the company. Employees work on corporate applications and may access sensitive data from local server and cloud-based systems that required high security. Microsoft has been focusing on security, however, they also realized that within the digital world, it requires a new approach to protect, detect and respond to security threats.
Microsoft has a mission to protect all end points, detect threats, and respond more quickly and comprehensively towards security issues. Microsoft’s unique insights are informed by trillions of signals from billions of sources, which make them able to create an intelligent security graph to protect all endpoints, better detect attacks, and accelerate their response. The intelligent security graph is powered by inputs from end points, consumer services, commercial services, and on-premises technologies.
Microsoft announced their plan to enhance their customer data protection system with a new Cyber Defense Operations Center. This facility brings together security response experts from the company to help protect, detect, and respond to threats in real-time. It has a dedicated 24/7 staffs that have direct access to thousands of security professionals, data analysts, engineers, developers, program managers, and operation specialists throughout Microsoft. The center maintains critical connections with industry security partners, governments and enterprise customers, and engages Microsoft’s Digital Crime Unit when law enforcement needs come up.
Microsoft also announced the Microsoft Enterprise Cybersecurity Group (ECG), as a dedicated group of worldwide security experts delivering security solutions, expertise and services that empower companies to update their IT platforms into a more secured cloud for keeping data safe.
Security innovation works in tandem on Windows 10, Office 365, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS). They are designed to help prevent accidental or intentional loss of corporate data, prevent password attacks, and respond to the installation of malware on the machine within the work environment.
Those features are Windows 10’s Microsoft Passport and Windows Hello to protect passwords, Windows 10 Device Guard to protect against malware, and Advance Threat Analytics to help users detect and respond to successful attacks.
Improved Security Posture
Security hygiene has become one of the most important features that a company needs to address, raise concern, and improve continuously despite new threats, new attacks and new technologies. It is also important to educate and raise awareness towards the employee populations in order to build and sustain a pervasive security culture.
By increasing the quality of security ecosystems, Microsoft can ensure consumers and businesses to trust their technology and adopt it into their business journey.
